2 tractor-trailers collide on Hwy. 401 in Mississauga

A crash involving two tractor-trailers on Highway 401 in Mississauga snarled traffic during the Wednesday morning rush hour.

The collision happened on the eastbound lanes near Mississauga Road just before 5 a.m.

On Periscope, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said one of the tractor-trailers, which was loaded with dye, detergent, and liquid products, rear-ended another tractor-trailer.

“It looks like one of the trucks … was rear-ended from behind on the rear driver’s side corner, sending it off to the right shoulder. The truck that hit [the second tractor-trailer] struck [the vehicle] with its front passenger side,” Schmidt told 680 NEWS at the scene.

The truck with the dye ended up on its side. There was nothing dangerous or hazardous inside, but clean-up could still take a few hours.

No serious injuries were reported.

The eastbound on-ramp is expected to remain closed until 11 a.m. or noon, police said.
