‘Shoeless’ bank robber wanted by Toronto police

Toronto police are looking for a man suspected of robbing eight banks in the city’s west end since August.

Around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 10, a man walked into a bank near Rexdale Boulevard and Kipling Avenue. It’s alleged he took a long note out of his pocket and showed it to the teller, demanding money.

Police said he fled with the cash.

While running toward a taxi, his black sneakers fell off and police picked them up.

Police believe the man is responsible for seven other robberies, two of which happened on Tuesday. They all took place in an area bounded by Avenue Road, Weston Road, Finch Avenue West and St. Clair Avenue West.

He is in his early 20s, and between five-foot-two and five-foot-four.

During the seven most recent robberies, the man wore dark sunglasses and had a hooded sweater pulled over his head.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
