Two men are dead following a shooting in the parking lot of Rebel nightclub overnight.

Police were called after gunshots were reported in the area of Polson and Cherry streets just after 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

Homicide detectives say a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene while another man in his 20s was transported to a nearby trauma centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the two victims were patrons at the nightclub when an altercation broke out in the parking lot which led to the shooting.

No suspect description has been provided but police say a black vehicle was observed leaving the scene and heading northbound on the Don Valley Parkway.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who was at the nightclub at the time of the shooting.

A statement from INK Entertainment which owns the nightclub says they are “shocked and saddened” over the events and are fully cooperating with the police investigation.

“Public safety and security is our top priority at REBEL and we will continue to ensure that it remains that way with the highest standard of support,” read the statement.
