Markham man leads police on high-speed chase through corn field

A 20-year-old Markham man is facing several charges after he led police on a wild car chase through a corn field.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday officers attempted to stop a speeding vehicle on Toronto Street in Uxbridge.

Police said the driver refused to pull over and fled through residential streets in an erratic manner. Officers pursued the vehicle but when speeds got too high, police ended their pursuit for safety reasons.

However, a helicopter was called in and followed the vehicle, watching as it drove off the roadway, into a corn field.
