Man charged after woman killed in Thorncliffe Park stabbing

Police have charged a 31-year-old Toronto man after a woman was stabbed to death in Thorncliffe Park overnight.
Emergency crews were called to an apartment building on Thorncliffe Park Drive, near Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East, around 12:30 a.m. on Friday.
Paramedics said the woman had multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified her as Marite Zala, 69, of Toronto.
Officers arrested Ernest Lajos Zala at the apartment and charged him with first-degree murder.
He was due in court on Friday afternoon.
Police would not comment on a possible connection between the victim and suspect.
