One suspect arrested, warrant issued for another in Mississauga double stabbing

Peel regional police have identified the victim of Mississauga’s 14th homicide of the year and one suspect has been arrested. A warrant has been issued for a second suspect.

Two 18-year-old men were injured in a double stabbing in the Cawthra and Lakeshore Road East area just before 1 a.m. on Oct. 14. One man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and the other later died in hospital.

The deceased victim has been identified as Maxwell Alexander Chavez of Toronto.

One man was arrested on Friday and has been charged with second-degree murder. Trayon Johnson, 23, is due to appear in court on Saturday.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for the second suspect. Richard Ireland, 18, is wanted for second-degree murder.

He is described as a white male, 5-feet-10-inches tall, 130 pounds with brown eyes and brown shoulder length hair.

Police have a released a photo of Ireland and believe he is actively evading police.
