30-year-old father killed in Gennela Square murder

A 30-year-old father has been identified as the man who was shot and killed in Scarborough.

Police were called to Gennela Square, near Morningside and Old Finch avenues, just before midnight on Tuesday.

Area residents told authorities they had heard some sort of fight and then gunshots rang out.

The victim, Brendan Clarke, was found a short time later and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially said the victim lived on Gennela. However, at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon, Det. Jeff Tavares said Clarke did not live on the street but his father does.

Tavares said they are looking for one male suspect. He is described as around five-foot-nine to five-foot-10 with a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing and was last seen going north on the Gennela towards Morningview Trail.

The homicide is the third murder on this street in just four months. In July, Rinaldo Cole and Dwayne Campbell were shot dead while attending a birthday party.

However, Tavares said so far, there is no information to suggest that the murders are related.
