Suspects posing as officers steal cash from Mississauga resident: police

Peel regional police are investigating a robbery in Mississauga which allegedly involved people claiming to be police officers.

A woman and two men went to the victim’s home on Deer Run, near Burnhamthorpe and Creditview roads, around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. They said they were Peel Regional Police officers and claimed the victim owed a sum of money. The victim handed over $9,000 in Canadian and U.S. currency.

The female suspect is described as white, 40 years old, with dark hair, an average build and a Polish accent.

The men are both described as white, with an average build. One had short, dark hair.

All three were wearing dark clothes.

Peel police are reminding the public that when officers attend any location out of uniform, they will always provide photo identification and identify themselves as police officers. Further, officers will never visit a home and ask for money. If you’re ever in doubt about an officer’s identity, call 911 immediately.

Investigators are asking nearby residents and businesses, as well as drivers, for security and dashcam footage around the time of the incident .

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
