Man, woman arrested in daylight robbery, attempted murder investigation

Toronto police have arrested a man and a woman in connection with a robbery and attempted murder investigation in Rexdale.

Police say two men and a woman reportedly drove into a residential neighbourhood near Albion Road and Byng Avenue around 7 a.m. on Thursday. The two men allegedly approached an area resident who was standing in his driveway and engaged him in conversation.

Soon after, one of the men allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the resident while threatening him and demanding cash. The suspect obtained some property from the resident and tried to flee with his accomplice in the waiting vehicle, driven by the woman.

When the victim chased them, the suspect allegedly turned around and fired three shots at him. One of the rounds struck the victim and he suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The three suspects managed to flee the area but the victim was able to get the license plate number of the vehicle.

Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter and found a shell casing and the vehicle of interest was also found parked at a nearby residential high-rise. Upon executing a search warrant on the vehicle on Friday, police reportedly found a loaded 9mm handgun in it.

Later that evening officers arrested 46-year-old Dale Bailey and 26-year-old Jasmin Langeman. They face a total of 20 charges between them including attempted murder and robbery with a firearm.

Police are still looking for the other male suspect and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
