Sam Coffey And The Iron Lungs Have Bucket List Moment

By Lindsay Dunn

Just over a year ago Toronto based punk rock group Sam Coffey And The Iron Lungs were playing basement shows in Toronto. Fast forward 12 months and they played on one of the most iconic stages in Toronto: Massey Hall.

“We all feel extremely lucky,” Sam Coffey said prior to the sold-out show on March 2nd. “We got so lucky to perform on this stage before the revitalization can’t wait to see what they do.”

“A year-and-a-half ago we were playing in basements of most of the venues in Toronto so it’s quite a considerable step-up.”

The bands drummer, Connor Glen, told CityNews: “I remember when I was around 20-years-old and I saw the Tragically Hip play at Massey and I sat front row. I never thought I would have a better seat than that but now we have the best seat in the house.”

The group is on a cross-country tour with Canadian rockers The Sheepdogs and March 2nd not only marked Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs first performance at Massey Hall, it was also the first performance for the prairie rockers who now call Toronto home.
