Brampton beating victim dies in hospital, homicide investigating

A Brampton man who was rushed to hospital Monday night with life-threatening injuries following an assault has died in hospital, Peel regional police confirm.
The victim, 21-year-old Paviter Singh Bassi, is the region’s eighth homicide victim of the year.
Peel police responded to a call in the Cedarcliff Trail and Sandalwood Parkway are around 6 p.m. Monday after reports of two men beating another man with sticks.
The victim was found with life-threatening head injuries and was rushed to a trauma centre, where he died on Tuesday morning.
Police are speaking to witnesses but no suspect information is available at this time.
