A 33-year-old woman is dead following a multi-car crash in Richmond Hill.

York Region Police say they were called to the scene of a five-car accident on Stouffville Road, east of Bayview Avenue just after 6 p.m. on Sunday night.

Photos from the scene show the charred remains of a Lamborghini that was involved in the crash.

Police confirmed to 680 NEWS that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s believed the woman was a passenger in the Lamborghini.

Three other people were taken to hospital, however the extent of their injuries is not known.

Pro-Star Driving School says one of its drivers was involved in the crash. The school says he was alone at the time, was treated for unknown injuries and will be “OK.”

The son of the man behind the wheel of the driving school car tells CityNews his father was driving westbound on Stouffville Road when he saw the blue Lamborghini coming towards him in oncoming traffic. Azhar Malik says his father swerved to avoid a head-on collision but was struck on the side and thrown into the guardrail.

There is no word on what caused the crash but there are indications that street racing may have played a role.
