Man charged in alleged sex assault at Richmond Hill daycare: police

By The Canadian Press

York regional police say a 23-year-old Richmond Hill man is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a child in a home daycare in Richmond Hill, Ont.

Police say they began investigating on June 21 after receiving a report alleging sexual assaults against a girl between 2014 and 2018 and a suspect was arrested the next day.

Karim Saad is charged with five counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference and is to appear in court in Newmarket on July 26.

Investigators say the accused is known to have been around children for many years as a daycare was operated at his family home.

They say they’d like to speak to any other alleged victims, witnesses or anyone who may have had contact with the accused pertaining to the investigation.
