A man has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly hitting a man with an unidentified object off his bike.

Police say they were originally called to Yonge Street and Wedgwood Drive, just south of Steeles Avenue, to a man who fell off a bike around 11:45 p.m. Friday.

An investigation determined the man was riding a bike when an unidentified person allegedly struck him with an object, causing him to fall off. The suspect had then fled on foot.

Officers say unconfirmed reports indicate the assault happened with a golf club. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Sang Hyun Jun, 40, of Toronto has since been charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

He appeared in court on Sunday.

Investigators continue to ask for information or video surveillance of the alleged assault.
