By James Mackin and News Staff

Peel Region is opening up several COVID-19 vaccination clinics in March.

Currently, there are two vaccination clinics operating across the region. The first opened up on February 11, at the Mississauga headquarters of Peel Region with the capacity to administer 990 doses. The second opened on February 23, at the Brampton headquarters which can administer 590 vaccines.

The new locations will be spread across Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon. They include:

  • The Brampton soccer centre, with a capacity of 7,800 daily doses. This opens on March 1.
  • University of Toronto-Mississauga campus/Trillium Health Partners at Recreation, Athletics and Wellness Centre, with a capacity of 2,000 daily doses. This opens on March 1.
  • Paramount Field House in Mississauga, with a capacity of 7,800 daily doses. This opens on March 3.
  • The Caledon East Community Complex, with a capacity of 780 daily doses. This opens on March 6.
  • The International Centre in Mississauga, with a capacity of 3,900 daily doses. This opens on March 10.
  • The Chris Gibson Arena in Brampton, with a capacity of 2,930 daily doses. This opens on April 6.

These locations will operate in tandem with vaccine administration through hospital sites.

According to a release from Peel Region, community members and municipal partners were consulted in the choosing of these locations.

There will be more options offered in the spring, including drive-through, mobile “on-site” clinics, primary care and pharmacy locations.

Peel also said there will be an initial introduction of vaccinations for residents who are 80 years or older that will be opening up soon with more appointments to come as vaccine availability increases.

The Ontario government announced Wednesday that those 80 years or older would start getting their first doses the week of March 15.

People looking to make a vaccine appointment are asked to wait for the go-ahead from Peel Region, and information will be available on the Peel Region website and social media platforms.
