Man Shot, Police Officer Injured In Scarborough

A 23-year-old man was allegedly shot in the chest by an officer around 3:30am on Prudential Drive, near Lawrence and Midland. Initial reports from the scene suggest the suspect had driven his car towards an officer before the shots were fired.

Authorities say the man is expected to recover and the officer also suffered non life-threatening injuries and was treated in hospital.

The S.I.U. is investigating the incident, which is the third shooting involving police this week.

A 24-year-old man was apparently shot by a Peel Region officer Friday near Dixie and Courtney Park. There are unconfirmed reports the man drove his car at police, which prompted them to open fire.

The suspect apparently fled after the shots were fired and crashed his car at a Brampton banquet hall parking lot about 10 kilometres away.

He’s expected to recover from his injuries.

And the S.I.U. is investigating after police shot and killed a 15-year-old boy early Tuesday morning in a confrontation in the parking lot of a Lawrence Avenue apartment in Scarborough.

The S.I.U. is a civilian organization that probes incidents involving police and civilians that result in serious injury or death.
