Police Issue Public Safety Warning For Women In West End

Both attacks happened on July 8 just hours apart. Authorities say the first occurred around 12:30am when a 21-year-old woman was walking home from the bus stop near Bloor Street and Laurel Avenue, near The East Mall.

Investigators believe a passing vehicle may have interrupted the assault.

Just under an hour later a 22-year-old woman was attacked while she was walking home near Burnhamthorpe Road and The West Mall.

Both victims provided police with similar suspect descriptions and authorities released a composite sketch Wednesday. The suspect is said to be:

  • White
  • In his 20s
  • Between 5’8″ and 5’9″ with a thin build

Police say he has short, blond, spiky hair and was wearing a green or grey hooded sweatshirt. They’re also advising women to be extra cautious when walking alone, especially at night.

If you recognize the suspect or have any information that could help investigators, call (416) 808-7474 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
