Best Buskers Hit T.O. Streets

There’s practically an act to suit everyone’s taste at the seventh annual Buskerfest, which kicked off Thursday and runs through to Sunday on Front Street between Jarvis and Church.

And there are performances throughout the day and night.

When most people think of buskers, singers or jugglers may come to mind, but the eclectic mix of artists at this year’s event includes mind readers, body painters, fire breathers, break dancers and contortionists.

The colourful event is expected to draw an estimated 300,000 people down to the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood over the weekend.

Another great thing about this festival is that it’s free. But you’re asked to follow busker etiquette and cough up some cash when the hat gets passed around. You’re also asked to make a donation in support of Epilepsy Toronto.

And you can bet that the performers will be at their best during each performance as they’re always coming up with new ways to make sure you get your money’s worth.

“Well, what we do in our show to make the show better, we’ll just compete against each other and every day we know we’re going to bust out brand-new moves,” Will Sanchez of the USA Breakdancers said.

And there’s more to see than the shows – there are a number of fun places to eat and shop along the downtown strip.
