Lou Diamond Phillips Charged With Domestic Battery

The “La Bamba” star could face up to a year in prison and a $2,000 fine if convicted. The charge of domestic battery was filed in a Los Angeles court earlier this week.

Authorities say the dispute happened in August when Phillips allegedly “pushed and dragged (his girlfriend) across the house resulting in scrapes to both knees,” City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said in a statement.

The woman, who was not identified in the court documents, apparently locked herself in the bathroom and called 911.

The 44-year-old actor’s lawyers are still reviewing the charge and his spokesperson refused to comment on the case. His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 18.

The actor rose to fame after portraying 1950s rock n’ roll star Ritchie Valens in the 1987 film “La Bamba”. Phillips has since appeared on Broadway and recently made guest appearances on various TV shows.
