Widow Of Crocodile Hunter Reveals Her Heartbreaking Loss

She speaks in hushed tones, at times holding back tears.

The widow of the man known as Australia’s Crocodile Hunter has broken her silence on her husband’s tragic death.

Terri Irwin knows she’ll never forget the moment she was told her spouse had been killed during the filming of a documentary earlier this month.

“I felt myself explode inside,” she remembers. “And I looked out the window, and here’s this beautiful little girl, with her father’s eyes looking at me with such joy.”

Steve Irwin was underwater when a stingray’s barb pierced his heart. He managed to remove the projectile but died immediately afterwards.

His passing began a long period of mourning in his native country. But no one felt the pain any worse than his family. The effect on the fallen icon’s children – 8-year-old Bindi and 2-year-old Bob, has been profound.

The words her son spoke when she broke the news that his father was gone may haunt her forever.

“He says ‘I wish I could get sick.’ And I’ll say ‘why do you want to get sick?’ And he’ll say ‘I wish I could get sick so I could go to heaven with daddy.'”

Irwin claims she always believed her husband would die early but thought it would be in a car crash. She retains one secret only her family will likely ever know – the location of her husband’s final resting place.
