Oct. 1 – StreetBeat – Serious Crash In West End

A two-car collision in the west end left a young woman trapped in her car early Sunday.

The accident happened shortly after midnight when a Honda Civic collided with an SUV before hitting a pole at Islington and San Pietroway, north of Finch.

Crews worked for over 20 minutes to free the woman from the wreckage and she was reportedly alert and conscious while paramedics prepared to transport her to hospital.

Her injuries are said to be non life-threatening.


Scarborough Crash

A man is in hospital after an early morning crash in Scarborough Sunday.

A car slammed into a pole at Kennedy and Sheppard, knocking the pole onto the street.

Emergency crews had to cut the roof off of the vehicle and there’s no word on the victim’s condition or on possible charges.


Scarborough Shooting

Police were called to a banquet hall at Ellesmere and Warden around 4am Sunday for a shooting.

A man who was shot in the chest was rushed to hospital and is expected to survive.

There have been no arrests so far and there’s no word yet on a motive or suspects.


Hit-And-Run Arrest

Police arrested a man after a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning.

A Ford Explorer slammed into a cab in the entertainment district and then took off. The suspect was stopped by police a few blocks away and charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene.


High-Speed Collision

Firefighters were called to the scene Sunday night and attended to a damaged vehicle after a violent head-on crash in the east-end. Police say a Toyota Camry – travelling at a high rate of speed – crashed into two mini-vans.

The driver of the Camry was taken into hospital and police said he has serious injuries but will recover.
