Attempt To Get Celebrities To Eat Dog Food Has Mixed Results

So is it any surprise that some of them refuse to eat dog food?

Yes, dog food.

This bizarre tale – or should that be tail? – of celebritydom happened in L.A. on Thursday, during what no less than six U.S. governors declared “Dine With Your Dog Day”.

The event was created by former “Eight is Enough” star Dick Van Patten to tout his new brand of dog food and prove how delicious properly made nourishment for canines can be. He believes owners and pets sharing the same meal can be a bonding experience. And he was hoping to raise funds for animal shelters.

But the idea of swallowing a huge glob of puppy chow didn’t thrill Nicolette Sheridan of “Desperate Housewives” fame.

“This is not ‘Fear Factor,'” she scowled, as she refused to touch a spoonful.

“Exorcist” star Linda Blair –  who had far worse things coming out of her mouth in the infamous movie that rocketed her to stardom – also balked at taking a bite. She claims she’s a vegetarian.

So who managed to get the stuff down? Only a few celebs were able to stomach the idea. Ross the Intern from the Tonight Show enjoyed a few morsels.

And wouldn’t papa be proud – Melissa Gilbert, whose “Little House on the Prairie” family knew a thing or two about eating what’s put before them –  also chowed down on her dog chow.

And as for Sheridan? Well, she continues to be a Desperate Housewife. But her refusal proves she’s not quite that desperate.
