Police Search For Driver After Fatal Hit-And-Run

The fatal accident happened around 12:30am Sunday at the intersection of Highway 27 and Humber College Boulevard.

Investigators believe the victim, Andres Maldonado of Brampton, was crossing against a red light when he was clipped by one car, which knocked him to the ground, and then run over by another vehicle.

The driver of the first car pulled over after the accident, but according to witnesses, the second vehicle slowed down, and then fled the scene.

Detectives believe that second car is a beige North American model, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am. The driver of the first vehicle has not been charged.

“To the actual driver that’s responsible, turn yourself in,” Det. Wally Watts said. “Come forward. Go to any police station. In fact, contact a lawyer if you wish, but come forward and do the right thing here.”

If you have any information that could help police, call Traffic Services at (416) 808-1900 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.

“Any information at all could just make the difference here,” Watts said.
