Male Nurse Arrested For Sexual Assault

Cops have charged a male nurse with sexually assaulting a 65-year-old patient.

The incident supposedly took place last Saturday around 3:30am as the man was being treated at the Trillium Health Centre on the Queensway.

Authorities aren’t saying much about the incident except that the patient called them to register the complaint.

Cst. Kathy Weylie tells CityNews.ca they’re limited in what they can reveal about this case, because they not only need to protect their evidence, but also the patient and alleged victim’s identity.

Nexhmedin Lekiqi of Mississauga, who also goes by the first name of Dean, is charged with a single count of sexual assault.

Police are now asking anyone else who thinks they may have had inappropriate contact with the employee to call them at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3460.

Meanwhile, the hospital has issued a statement confirming it’s co-operating fully with Peel Police and is conducting its own internal investigation into the allegations.

“Trillium Health Centre acted immediately to support the patient through this situation and we informed the patient of the support we could offer, including contacting the police,” it assures.

A hospital rep tells CityNews.ca the nurse has been suspended with pay pending the end of their probe.

He’ll make his his first appearance in a Brampton court on January 15th.
