Two men are homeless and several cars have been burned after a three alarm fire sent crews to an address in the Islington and Steeles area Thursday night.
The blaze broke out at 110 Millwick Dr. around 6:15pm, when flames were spotted at G&T Auto Body.
By the time firetrucks arrived, two vehicles parked inside had reportedly been completely destroyed and two men who lived in the apartment above the business were ousted to the street.
Both managed to escape unharmed, but it’s unclear what, if anything, is left of their possessions.
“I’m outside. They’re trying to put it out now,” relayed the stunned tenant named Dominic while talking on his cell phone. “It looks…out, but it’s a disaster man.”
He was worried about his roommate who was inside at the time, but was relieved to see him emerge from the smoke and get to safety.
The cause of the blaze still isn’t known.
About half an hour later, sirens blared again, this time heading towards a two-alarm fire in a townhouse at 100 Burrows Hall Blvd. in the Progress and Milner area of Scarborough.
Authorities say this one was in a townhouse complex, and smoke forced the temporary evacuation of an adjacent unit. But firefighters managed to keep the flames from spreading anywhere else and it was put out quickly.
There were no injuries in that blaze either, and a cause hasn’t been determined yet.
