A motorist drover a car through a security barrier at Stephen Harper’s country home north of Ottawa on Sunday.
RCMP officers quickly arrested the driver, reportedly a woman who simply wanted to meet Canada’s top politician.
“The protective unit of the RCMP intercepted the vehicle right away and proceeded with the arrest of the individual,” Corporal Jean Hainey said, adding that the suspect is in the custody of local police, but hasn’t yet been charged.
Authorities wouldn’t say if Harper was in the home when the incident happened.
Harper’s country home is in Gatineau Park on Lake Mousseau, northeast of Ottawa.
