York Police Ask For Help In Case Of Man Found In Ditch

Detectives in York Region are trying to determine the circumstances that left a man lying near death in a ditch who they believe is the victim of an assault and abduction.

A jogger found the man – identified as 28-year-old Jimmy Koutsaris of Toronto – by the side of the road in Stouffville around 8:45am Saturday on Bethesda Sideroad between McCowan and Kennedy Roads. He was hurt badly and was taken to hospital with where he remains with critical injuries.

Police say he wasn’t shot and wasn’t hit by a car. Investigators also believe the victim was assaulted and then dumped in the ditch, where he lay for just a short time before the passerby spotted him.

Authorities are hoping members of the public can help them piece together the events before the victim was found.

Koutsaris is described as:

  • White,
  • 20s or early 30s,
  • Short black hair

Police say he was wearing a black, down-filled winter coat.
