Startling Development In Ianiero Murder Case

It’s a case that has seen its fair share of unusual twists and turns and now there is a report of another startling development in the investigation into the murders of Domenic and Nancy Ianiero.

A published report claims the Woodbridge couple’s son, Anthony Ianiero, has been named as a “person of interest” in the case. That does not mean he’s a suspect, but that Mexican authorities would like to speak with him.

The Ianieros were found dead in their room at the Barcelo Maya resort near Cancun on Feb. 20, 2006 where they’d travelled to celebrate their daughter’s wedding. Their throats had been slashed.

Anthony Ianiero who along with lawyer Eddie Greenspan has acted as a spokesman for the family, insists his parents were the victims of a vicious robbery. He says the main suspect should be a resort security guard who befriended his mother and father during their stay.

But Mexican investigators have proposed a much different theory: they reportedly have reason to believe the murders were contracted by Canadians. Crime scene photographs reportedly show that several items, including traveller’s cheques and cash, were not taken from the slain couple’s room.

The security guard has also been named as a person of interest and he’s reportedly entered the United States illegally and authorities are trying to find him. According to the report, he’s considered a peripheral player and not a central figure in the murders.
