Britney Spears Determined To Make A Comeback Hits The Stage

Her fans would say it’s been a long time coming.

With a divorce, a very public meltdown and a month-long stint in rehab all behind her, once pop princess Britney Spears took the stage late Tuesday at a blues club in San Diego, making what’s believed to be her first concert appearance in almost three years.

The gig, which reportedly lasted about 20 minutes, was not exactly a surprise.

Rumors ran rampant in the past few days that three scheduled southern California shows featuring an unknown band called The M+M’s were a cover for the singer.

Back in top form wearing a brunette wig, a pink bra for a top, and a short white skirt, Spears performed a five-song set that included her classic single, “Baby One More Time.”

According to fans she barely addressed the crowd. Her only words came as she was leaving.

“Thanks everyone for coming,” she told the packed club.

A television news report said $35 tickets for the show at the 1,000-capacity House of Blues sold for as much as $500.

Earlier this year, the 25-year-old successfully completed a stint at a luxury Malibu drug-rehabilitation treatment facility after a bout of headline-generating behaviour that included a February stop at a San Fernando Valley hair salon to shave her own head in front of television news cameras.

Spears filed for divorce in November from aspiring rapper Kevin Federline, just two months after giving birth to their second child, Jayden James.

The pair also have an older son, Sean Preston, now 20 months.

Earlier this year, Spears told fans of her plans for a hot career comeback.

“I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever,” she wrote in a January posting on her website, also noting she’s “been far from perfect.”

She’s reportedly recording her fifth album, which she started working on last year with R&B singer Ne-Yo and Swedish producer Max Martin.
