Lohan Surrenders To Police For May Car Crash

First it was socialite Paris Hilton who turned herself over to authorities for violating her probation in a drunk-driving case. Now her nightlife sidekick Lindsay Lohan, who’s under arrest on suspicion of DUI, has surrendered to police in connection with a car crash that happened in May.

Accompanied by her attorney, the 21-year-old actress turned herself in to the Beverly Hills Police Department shortly after 4pm Thursday to be fingerprinted and photographed, according to officials.

The celebrity’s blood-alcohol level at the time of the crash was above .08, California’s legal limit, said officer Brian Ballieweg. He added that she’s also under arrest on suspicion of misdemeanour hit and run.

Lohan and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and shrubs on Sunset Boulevard on May 26. Following the crash, she got into a second car and was driven to a hospital in nearby Century City for treatment of minor injuries. Luckily, no other passengers were hurt.

Last week, Lohan checked out of a rehab centre after staying for more than six weeks.

Lohan was released on her own recognizance. A court date has been scheduled for August 24.
