Stabbed Man Under Arrest

A man who was stabbed near the downtown intersection of Parliament and Bloor Sts. overnight is under arrest himself. He’s accused of assaulting another man, who defended himself by lashing out at his attacker with a pair of scissors.

Police say the 21-year-old victim was struck in the face by a chair when he walked away from three men who’d asked him for a cigarette. The victim then turned the tables on his attackers, managing to stab one of them with the scissors. The man who’d been stabbed, 22 years old, was taken to hospital and has since been charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.


Woman Hurt In Bizarre Crash

A woman in her 70s is in hospital after a rear-end crash saw her fall under her own vehicle. The woman had apparently stepped out of her own vehicle near Islington and Finch Aves. and was standing in front of it when her car was rear-ended. The impact from the second vehicle pushed the first car forward and it struck the woman. There’s no word on how serious the injuries are. It’s unclear if the driver of the other car will face charges.


No Charges In Gas Station Accident

A 60-year-man remains in critical condition after he was run over at a gas station Saturday in what appears to be a tragic accident. The man was pumping gas at the Danforth and Victoria Park gas bar when his wife apparently put the car in gear and struck him. She then struck him a second time as she apparently tried to get the vehicle off him. Police said there wouldn’t be a criminal investigation and that no charges would be laid.


Suspicious Package

Emergency Task Force bomb experts blew up a suspicous package near Yonge and Sheppard early Sunday evening. ETF officers and the fire department’s HAZMAT unit showed up mid-afternoon following reports of the curious parcel at the home.

Neighbours say the resident had been away and he discovered the package in his mail when he returned. There were no injuries.
