Can there be anything more frightening than the sight of Dina Pulgiese with a hammer in her hand? The Breakfast Television host was on the eve of destruction Friday morning, as her show originated from the new home of Citytv at 35 Dundas St. E.
It’s the site of the old Olympic Spirit Building and it’s soon to be replaced by a state of the art high definition broadcast facility that will be like no TV complex in North America.
It’s five floors of spacious living, surround by a panoramic view of Yonge-Dundas Square. There’s a patio on the roof that’s a lot bigger than the old Queen St. West address, and will be one of the new homes of Frank Ferragine and Michael Kuss. “I loved exploring the five floors,” Dina gushes. “The rooftop was awesome. I see potential for Frankie Flowers!”
“I’m thinking we could make this a birder’s paradise,” Frank responds.
At one point during the first broadcast ever made from the building on Friday, Dina and co-host Kevin Frankish asked people in neighbouring high rises to come out on their balcony and wave – and many did.
For the brass at Rogers, the new owners of Citytv, getting a move on is an exciting prospect that can’t come soon enough. “There’s so much production here,” enthuses Tony Viner, Rogers Media CEO. “Remember Omni will be here as well but we’ll be doing, you know, “CityLine” and “B.T.” And all of our news from this location.”
But this headline won’t be aired until it’s ready. Plans are to move into the new complex by March 2009. But we’ll be keeping you – and the neighbours – updated on how the renovations are going before then.
