Thursday’s Motley Crue Concert In Toronto Will Feature Everything But Booze

What if they held a hard rock concert and no one could drink a drop of booze?

We’ll find out the answer to that question on Thursday, as veteran band Motley Crue takes to the stage of a suddenly dry Molson Amphitheatre.

The Ontario Place venue is being punished by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for some infractions that took place during last year’s concert season and is now paying the one day price – no liquor can be served at the venue from 11am Thursday until 2am Friday – the night Cruefest comes to the lakeside arena.

The suspension is only for that evening but comes with almost no warning for fans and management. Of course, it’s still possible to enjoy the music and you can almost guarantee the ban will increase the use of other substances which aren’t quite as legal.

But there’s little doubt the temporary restriction won’t make what’s sure to be an already rowdy crowd very happy.

Papa Roach and Buckcherry open for the Crue, who are scheduled to take the stage around 9:30pm.

A TicketMaster rep tells CityNews.ca there are lots of passes still available to the show, which is far from sold out. But anyone who’s already purchased an admission is out of luck – the tickets are not refundable.
