Concern Grows After Autistic Boy Disappears In Toronto

What could have happened to 16-year-old Mason MacPhail? His family is desperate for an answer to that question after the teen disappeared in mysterious circumstances on Tuesday night.

MacPhail (top left) attended a concert at the Sound Academy on Polson St. with three friends. He became separated from his pals at some point and didn’t reconnect with them in the parking lot at 11:30pm.

His mother received a text message from his cell phone just after 8pm but the battery died about half an hour after that initial call and his family hasn’t been able to reach him.

MacPhail is from Lindsay and while he’s not familiar with Toronto, he does know the Eaton Centre. There’s added concern because the teen is very shy and suffers from Asperger Syndrome, a form of autism.

It’s believed he was carrying some money and that he has a bank card, but there’s no evidence he’s been anywhere near an ATM.

Cops say they have security video of the boy heading into the parking lot. He could have gone anywhere from there and that’s just one of the many growing concerns in the hunt.
