Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch Announces He Has Cancer, Tour And Album Postponed

Adam Yauch, a member of the Beastie Boys, has cancer.

Yauch made the announcement in a video posted on YouTube on Monday.

In the short clip, he and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horowitz said that the group’s upcoming tour and album would be postponed. The third member of the trio, Michael “Mike D” Diamond, did not appear in the video.

Yauch, also known as MCA, first noticed a swelling in his neck two months ago. Tests revealed that he had cancer in the Parotid gland in his neck. Yauch will undergo surgery and radiation to treat the disease, and it will not affect his voice.

Yauch is expected to recover completely.
