Elderly Man Hit By Stray Bullet In Drive-By Shooting

An elderly man sitting on his porch was hit by a stray bullet during a brazen, daylight shooting on Saturday.

Around 5:30pm, the suspects, described as three black men in their 20s, drove up to the Humber Blvd. address in a black, late ’90s model Volkswagen Jetta and started shooting.

“I heard bang, bang, bang, and I said, ‘Those are gunshots,'” described area resident Agnes Luongo. “Oh, God almighty, I’ve lived here for 40 years. That’s terrible.”

Luongo and others at a two-year-old’s birthday party reported hearing 10 to 15 gunshots, one of which struck the 70-something victim in the leg. He was transported to Humber River Regional Hospital for treatment of minor wounds.

“We don’t believe the gentleman that was struck was the intended target,” noted Duty Insp. Art Little of Toronto Police. “It was possibly gang-related.”

Just minutes before, a half-dozen kids who had been playing on the lawn went inside to watch television.

Investigators are looking at the possibility one of the other men on the porch may have been the target.
