McGuinty Meets With Family Of Boy Killed By Tornado

Premier Dalton McGuinty is in Durham, Ont., viewing firsthand the devastation wrought by the tornado that whipped through the small town killing a young boy on Thursday.
McGuinty has met with the family of Owen McPherson, the 11-year-old boy killed by debris as a twister pummelled a conservation area north of the town.
He says the deadly storm was a devastating and tragic event, but added that everyone affected will pull through its aftermath together.
McGuinty says there are programs in place which allow affected residents to receive aid from the government to help them recover.
The premier was in Vaughan, Ont., earlier this week to take in the destruction left by the tornado that touched down in the city north of Toronto.
Durham and Vaughan were the hardest hit by the string of twisters that barrelled across the province, with both communities declaring states of emergency.
When in Vaughan, McGuinty said he was surprised at the power of the storm which “tossed cars around like toys.”
Environment Canada also confirmed tornado touchdowns in Newmarket and Milton.
