The Toronto International Film Festival is more than film – it’s culture. For the ten days the festival runs, Toronto is a hotbed of concerts, outdoor events and parties. And a lot are free! Below is a list of most of the events happening at Yonge-Dundas Square and I also recommend checking out the daily Canadian Music Cafe shows and the ONEXONE charity event (featuring Mary J. Blige).

3pm – Screening of the silent film Steamboat Bill Jr.
9pm – Opening Night Concert with DJ Champion
Friday, September 11
12pm – Screening of the documentary Dixie Chicks: Shut Up & Sing
3pm – Screening of the silent film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
6:30pm – Concert with the stars of the Canadian vampire film Suck
9pm – Screening of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars

12pm – Screening of the 1972 film The Harder They Come
6pm – Survival of the Dead Zombie Walk
Sunday, September 13
12pm Screening of the film Woodstock
Monday, September 14
8pm – Screening of the concert film The Neil Young Trunk Show (special appearance by Neil Young also planned)
Tuesday, September 15
3pm – Screening of the 1922 silent film Robin Hood
Wednesday, September 16
12pm – Screening of Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz
3pm – Screening of the 1914 silent film Tillie’s Punctured Romance

12pm – Screening of the concert film U2: Rattle & Hum
Friday, September 18
7pm – Screening of Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound (with a performance by Baez as well)
Saturday, September 19
12pm – Screening of Madonna: Truth or Dare
7pm – Screening of the documentary Copyright Criminals: This is a Sampling Sport
9pm – Future Projections: The Essential 100 & Festival Wrap Party (featuring Chuck D)
