A Canadian tourist is among those who have survived a deadly ferry accident in the south Philippines.
The “Superferry 9,” carrying about 1,000 people, began listing early this morning before it went down.
More than 900 passengers have been rescued so far but five people are confirmed dead and more than 60 others are missing.
Navy ships and military aircraft are scouring the water for survivors.
It is not clear yet what caused the ferry to sink but there have been reports the vessel listed to the right due to a hole in the hull.
The Canadian is identified as Jeffrey Predchuz. No hometown was provided.
