Volunteer Firefighter In Serious Condition Following Meaford Blaze

A firefighter remains in serious condition in hospital following a fire at a well-known Meaford restaurant at about 6am Wednesday.

Another firefighter, 33-year-old Rob Pilon, was also treated in hospital, but has since been released. Pilon also manages the local Dairy Queen.

Both are part of the volunteer force that responded to the blaze at Reeds Restaurant on Nelson St. and were attempting to check the upper level when they were injured.

Fortunately, the residents that live above the restaurant weren’t home at the time.

The building received significant damage but was not destroyed. The cause is still unknown.
