Teen Dies After Allegedly Robbing Convenience Store

A teen has died after he was hit by a car following a robbery Friday night at an east-end convenience store.

The 17-year-old was allegedly one of two males who held up the R.J. Food Market Convenience store on Victoria Park Ave. near Lawrence Ave. E. at about 8:30pm Friday.

Armed with a gun, the suspects took $150 and ran out of the store. But as they were crossing the street a car struck the teen.

He was transported to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

The second suspect is still on the loose. Police describe him as in his 20s, around 5’8” and between 150 and 165 lbs. He was wearing a black sweater, black pants and a black baseball cap. Police warn he may be armed.
