Former Mover, Police Officer Charged With Sexual Assault

Police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old Mississauga man with sexually assaulting a woman he met in July, while working for a moving company.

They say on Monday, the man showed up at the victim’s home near Dixon Rd. and Islington Ave. regarding a job opportunity and proceeded to make romantic advances toward her. When she declined, he allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted her.

Muhanad “Mike” Kamil was scheduled to appear in court Friday morning on the single charge, but police believe there may be other victims.

Detectives are also investigating a sexual assault involving a Toronto police officer with four years’ service.

On Thursday, 35-year-old Cst. Richard Akunyili was arrested and charged with a sexual assault that happened on Wednesday, while he was off-duty.

He is scheduled to appear in court in November.

Anyone with information in the first case is asked to call police at 416-808-2300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
