Police Looking For Three Men Wanted In Murder Of Toronto Teen

Police are searching for three men wanted for the murder of a Toronto teen.

Christian Derro, 19, was shot to death in Parkdale on Saturday night.

Emergency crews were called to an apartment building at 87 Jameson Ave. just south of King St, but it was too late.

Derro was pronounced dead at the scene at about 11:30pm. Investigators believe Derro and a friend were the only two inside.

Then, three men broke into the ground floor unit and the pair took off running. Derro was shot in the lobby. His friend was also shot and remains in hospital.

“We believe that this male and the other persons were targeted,” outlined Det. Andrew Ecklund.

On Monday, neighbours remembered the young man as a good brother and son. Derro didn’t live in the apartment. He lived with his mother and two sisters on Dunn Avenue, just blocks away.

“He was always very protective of his sisters and his mother,” described Kendra Lillie.

“He never caused any trouble at all.”

Derro worked full-time at the Liberty Grand banquet hall.

His death marks the city’s 42nd murder of the year.

There’s no word yet on a possible motive, but police are reviewing surveillance tape from the area.
