Another Canadian Soldier Dies In Afghanistan

Another Canadian soldier has been killed in Afghanistan.

Sapper Steven Marshall, of 11 Field Squadron 1 Combat Engineer Regiment based in Edmonton, Alta., was killed Friday afternoon when his patrol was struck by an IED in Panjwaii district, southwest of Kandahar city.

No one else was injured in the explosion.

Marshall, 24, had been in Afghanistan for less than a week when he died.

He is the second Canadian soldier to be killed this week after Lt. Justin Boyes of was struck by an IED on Wednesday.

The latest death brings to 133 the total number of Canadian soldiers who have died as part of the Afghan mission since it began in 2002.
