Teen Convicted In Rengel Murder Will Stay In Youth Facility

A teenage boy convicted in the murder of Stefanie Rengel, 14, will stay in a youth facility long after he turns 20.

David Bagshaw was four days shy of his 18th birthday when he fatally stabbed the girl six times, leaving her to die in a snowbank outside her parents’ home.

While he will turn 20 in January 2010, he will stay at a youth facility until 2011.  A judge ruled that Bagshaw is making progress and should not be transferred to an adult prison.

The attack happened on New Year’s Day, 2008. Bagshaw said he killed Rengel to appease his jealous girlfriend, Melissa Todorovic. Todorovic was also convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced as an adult.
