Two flu assessment centres have opened in Peel to deal with growing H1N1 concerns in the region.
Patients who think they may have symptoms of the virus are encouraged to visit either of the temporary sites.
While the staff at the centres cannot provide vaccines or anti-viral medication, they can assess patients and prescribe medication.
“We understand how difficult it is for people who are not feeling well to wait in overcrowded emergency departments and walk-in clinics,” Janette Smith, Commissioner of Health Services, noted in a press release.
However, if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you should go the hospital immediately:
- extreme shortness of breath
- chest pain
- prolonged fever
- continuous vomiting
- severe diarrhea
Clinic Locations:
Brampton
Century Gardens Community Centre
340 Vodden St. E. at Rutherford Rd.
Open daily from 3pm to 10pm
Mississauga
Frank McKechnie Community Centre
310 Bristol Rd. E.
Open daily from 3pm to 10pm
The centres will have separate entrances for those who fear they may have the flu and the community at large to prevent the spread of infection.
