McGuinty Offers Aid To Philippines After Devastating Typhoons

Victims of a string of typhoons in the Philippines are getting a helping hand from Premier Dalton McGuinty.

McGuinty says Ontario will give $200,000 to relief efforts in the country.

Back-to-back storms in late September and early October killed more than 900 people and left tens of thousands homeless.

A third typhoon in late October killed at least seven more.

The money, announced Sunday, will be channelled through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

In a prepared statement, McGuinty offered his prayers and thoughts to the country as it works to rebuild.
