Police Search For Suspects After Man Shot And Killed In Home Invasion

A 28-year-old man has died after he was shot several times during a home invasion in the city’s west end Tuesday.

Police say around 7:30pm three suspects forced their way into a home at 129 Wincott Drive, near The Westway and Kipling Avenue, and shot one man, Alex Rodney Rundle, before fleeing in a vehicle or on foot.

“What transpired in that house was a violent attempt at a home robbery,” Det.-Sgt. Pauline Gray said at a press conference.

“Three masked gunmen burst into the home and assaulted the residents within. With no clear motive it’s difficult to imagine what could have precipitated such a vicious occurrence.”

Rundle’s roommate escaped the gunfire and called 911 with the help of neighbours.

Emergency crews transported Rundle to hospital, where he died. A second man suffered minor injuries in the attack.

Rundle was a mason and general contractor who worked with his father, Bill Rundle. They lived in the house with two roommates.

“He was an incredible person. He had lots of friends. And he was really well loved. He had a compassionate heart. People think they get away with something like that. they’re not,” said Rundle’s mother, Barbara.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, or text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637).
