Residents Evacuated After Explosion In Newmarket Home

Authorities evacuated a residential Newmarket street Sunday afternoon after a gas leak caused an explosion and fire.
Residents in the Main Street and Davis Drive area heard a loud bang just after 2pm.
The occupants of a house on the evacuated street reported smelling gas and it was later discovered it had come from their laundry room.
Witnesses saw manholes flying into the air, which may have been due to a connection with the sewer system.
