CN Rail Strike Settled As Two Sides Reach Agreement

Canadian National Railway Co. (TSX:CNR) and the Teamsters union have reached a deal to end a strike by locomotive engineers which began Saturday.

Teamsters Canada president Daniel Shewchuk says the engineers will get back to work as quickly as possible, but didn’t provide a timeline.

The deal came after Ottawa introduced legislation to end the strike, which was to be debated tonight.

CN is the country’s largest railway and the government cited worries about the economy to justify the back-to-work bill.

Since the walkout started, managers have been running the trains.
